15 Must-Read Books for Christian Women

Throughout my blogging and writing journey, I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for the immense time and research that goes into crafting a book. Authors pour countless hours of reflection into their work, carefully shaping each word to illuminate goodness, truth, and beauty for their readers. The most impactful books not only explain the gospel but also demonstrate how it transforms our everyday lives.

This list aims to provide you with a collection of trusted resources where you can find biblical answers to your pressing questions. Each book reflects the insights of someone who has spent a year or two studying Scripture and likely walked the journey you’re facing, ready to offer guidance rooted in faith.

In this list, you’ll discover books covering a wide range of Christian living topics—such as forgiveness, Bible study, midlife transitions, discipleship, motherhood, and dealing with shame. You’ll also find reflections on worldview, identity, and real-life biographies.

I pray these books will offer you insight and encouragement as you navigate your walk with the Lord.

In Help for the Hungry Soul by Kristen Wetherell, the author reminds us that amid our busyness and distractions, we often lose sight of the importance of drawing near to Christ. This insightful resource encourages readers to rediscover their spiritual hunger and cultivate a deeper relationship with God. With engaging reflections and practical applications, Wetherell stirs your affections and ignites your appetite for the Living Bread, guiding you toward a more fulfilling and intimate walk with Christ.

We all grapple with our sense of identity from time to time. Whether it’s navigating the changes in our bodies as we age or trying to find our place in a new church or community, these struggles can leave us feeling uncertain. The authors invite us to reflect on these experiences and gently point us back to Christ and His Word, reminding us of the profound truth of who we are in Him.

If you're in a season of motherhood, Humble Moms offers a transformative invitation to lean into Christ through the lens of the Gospel of John. This book challenges us to embrace vulnerability and humility, reminding us that we don’t have to navigate the ups and downs of parenting alone, nor should we. With insights drawn from John’s teachings, we're encouraged to rely on God’s strength and grace as we seek to grow in our roles as mothers.

Mentoring can often feel like one of every woman's biggest fears, and it's understandable—we often don't know what to "do." Growing Together offers a solution! Grab this book, invite a younger woman from your church, and settle into a cozy booth at a coffee shop. Together, you can explore the insightful questions within its pages, fostering meaningful conversations and connections as you navigate your mentoring journey.

This is a book I didn’t realize I needed until I read it! This season of life isn’t often discussed within our church communities (or I haven't found it so), but this book thoughtfully addresses it. She covers a wide range of topics to help us not only prepare for this transitional time but also to navigate it with confidence and support. It's a compassionate guide that encourages you to embrace the journey and find hope in the midst of change.

I think it's safe to call this book a classic. This excellent, practical guide walks you step by step through the process of studying your Bible. If you’ve never learned the why or how of Bible study, this book is a must-read. It will equip you with the tools you need to deepen your understanding of Scripture and transform your heart.

Reading the stories of women who have walked in obedience to the Lord truly encourages me and inspires me in my own calling—whether it’s similar or different from theirs. Each story is a reminder that God can use anyone, regardless of their circumstances, to make a significant impact. I hope you feel uplifted by the faithfulness of these remarkable women as you reflect on your own journey!

Women & Work speaks to the incredible opportunity we have as women to be light-bearers for the gospel in our workplaces. I love how this book features a variety of voices sharing their journeys and insights, all rooted in a biblical worldview. Their stories resonate with my own experiences and inspire me to live out my faith boldly in professional settings. I hope you find encouragement and empowerment through these reflections as you navigate your work life!

This is a truly thought-provoking read. In it, you’ll discover the why and how of committing verses to memory, which became a vital necessity for Glenna as she navigates the challenges of chronic illness. Her journey will inspire you to see the power of Scripture in a new light and encourage you to make memorization a meaningful part of your own spiritual walk.

How Can Women Thrive in the Local Church tackles a question that many of us are asking—especially those who are struggling to find a sense of belonging or fulfillment within their church community. This short book offers insightful perspectives and practical advice that resonate deeply with my own experiences. I hope it encourages you to explore how we can all flourish together in our local churches!

I found her insights to be deeply enriching, encouraging me to see the connections in the Bible's overarching story in a new light through the stories of women. I hope you find this devotional as inspiring and thought-provoking as I did!

I felt it was essential to include a book on the basics of theology, and Fix Your Eyes by Amy Gannett is a fantastic choice! I really enjoyed how accessible and relatable it is, making complex theological concepts easy to understand. Gannett invites us to fix our eyes on Jesus, grounding our faith in solid truth while encouraging our worship of God. It’s a great read for anyone looking to deepen their theological foundation without feeling overwhelmed!

I love the vulnerability with which Jasmine Holmes writes in Never Cast Out. Her honesty makes it so easy to identify with the emotions surrounding shame that many of us struggle with. Holmes masterfully navigates her own experiences while drawing us into a deeper understanding of God’s grace and acceptance.

I Forgive You dives into a topic that many of us find incredibly difficult—one that's heavy with pain and suffering. She reminds us that, in Christ, we have hope, strength, and peace, even in the midst of our struggles. There’s so much nuance to this conversation, and Alsup navigates it beautifully, acknowledging the complexities we often face.

In our secular age, it’s so easy to get caught up in the empty promises that culture offers, which often don’t align with the truth of God’s Word. Jen Oshman does an incredible job in Cultural Counterfeits of breaking down these cultural lies and pointing us back to the all-sufficiency of Christ.

🌟I pray one or more of these books will resonate with you and be a blessing in your life!
