Mosaic (Dec 27)

I hope you've had a great Christmas week. We're finishing up our celebrations with some time away at the lake. The weather is wonderful for being outdoors which means we're having campfires watching our kids skate on the lake, exploring the trails and building sled runs.

The treasure of God's faithfulness in the year continues to prick my heart with joy. There's been challenges and opportunities, hardships and goodness, frustrations and peace. Through it all He's given grace to "hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful" (Heb. 10:23).

As you ring in the New Year in the next few days, may your time of reflection help you spot God's work in your life and propel you to living with whole-hearted devotion in the year ahead, "for he who promised is faithful."

Grace & Peace,

Amber

On my Shelf

I haven't done this in awhile, but here's where my reading life is at this week:

  • I finished my annual tread through On The Incarnation, and spent time reflecting on our human nature and need for Christ.

  • I also completed Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy: by Mark Vroegop, on learning about lament. This has been a topic that's been a balm to my weary soul lately. Stay tuned for my review!

  • I started Delighting in Jesus, on rhythms to restore joy when you feel burdened, broken and burnt out and a history about Africa Inland Mission, We Felt Like Grasshoppers.

When The Growing is Slow | Melissa Edgington

As I reflected on the last year, I found myself, just like Melissa, considering the contrast between Mary and Zecharia's response to the angel, wishing I was more like the former, but in reality finding myself as the latter. She reminds us, "no matter what happens, I know that God won’t quit. He won’t stop working in my heart and life in 2025, no matter how slow my growth is, no matter how tiny my faith may feel at times."

Hearing His Voice | Glenna Marshall

"Nothing I hear in the night is new. But I hear His words anew in every desperate moment."

If you're praying and discerning biblical goals, practices or principles for the new year, check out this list to take you back to scripture and guide your longing for a faith-filled life.

Reading through the Bible is both a joy and a discipline, here's a few ways to mix up your bible reading in the new year. The last few years I've done a variation of the 5 day reading plan, this year I'm going to try Professor Horner's system.

What? You Don't? | Brianna Lambert

While we may find it easier to connect with others over shared interests, there's never a reason we can't build relationships with those whose hobbies differ from our own. Here's Brianna's encouragement to see others through the eyes of Christ.
