Happy Friday!
Regular school and work routines resumed this week, and thankfully, they’ve been going well. We had a lovely time at the lake over the holidays, and I think we’ve all noticed the refreshment it brought us.
Working in healthcare, I’m often astonished by how much we know about the human body. The advances in treatments and medications to help people are remarkable. Yet, as our knowledge grows, so does the awareness of how much we don’t know or can’t explain. There’s a tension between all that we do know—and are expected to know—and the mysteries that remain. We do our best to help, but the truth remains: we are not all-knowing.
This same tension exists in knowing God. Through his Word, he's revealed truths to us, yet there is still so much we cannot comprehend. The sovereignty of God—how he works and chooses—is beyond our understanding. Paul expresses this awe in his letter to the Romans:“Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!” (Rom. 11:33).
For someone who loves to learn, not knowing can be a source of frustration. Yet here, Paul responds not with frustration but with worship. The mystery of God’s salvation is a source of wonder and beauty. Peter experienced this awe when he witnessed the Holy Spirit fall on the Gentiles at Cornelius’s home and later testified about it to the brothers in Jerusalem (Acts 10–11). God works in ways we cannot imagine or predict, and that should inspire our trust and manifest in our worship.
How can you respond with worship and trust when faced with the mysteries of God's work in your life?
Grace & Peace,
Amber

Untethered from the Father | Haylee Williams (Chasing Sacred)
She writes about her toddler's struggle to walk hand in hand with her dad on the beach which really illustrates our own longings to do what we want to do instead of walking in trust of God the Father.
When the New Year Doesn't Feel New | Marissa Bondurant
Sometimes the new year doesn't feel new at all, but here's an encouraging reminder of God's promises for us, even when we don't feel different.
When All You Can See is Your Failure | Ashley Anthony (Hosanna Revival)
Isn't it the truth that the house has to become a little messier before it gets cleaner?! When our growth in godliness feels the same way, Ashley reminds us through the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, God is bearing fruit in and through us, as we persevere in faithfulness.
True Strength Starts with Weakness | Cindy Matson
"True strength to stand up against the worst that the world can sling at us begins with weakness:“For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Cor. 12:10). However, this type of strength doesn’t match up with the world’s definition. True strength, forged in the fire of weakness, has some surprising yet non-negotiable traits."
If My Nest is Empty, Why is my Basement Still Full? | Kathy Giles
I've been reflecting a lot on the paradoxes of life—the times when two truths coexist, even though they seem contradictory, challenging us to hold them in tension. My friend Kathy explores this beautifully in the context of launching her adult children.
