On My Shelf (Nov 2024)

As we move through November, I've found myself reaching for a mix of books that have left me both inspired and challenged. Whether you're looking for a light read to unwind or something deeper to reflect on, I hope this list gives you a glimpse into the stories and insights that have captured my attention this month.

Here's what I've been exploring on my bookshelf lately.

A Framework for Children's Ministry

This book reimagines children’s ministry through the lens of belonging, believing, and becoming, challenging traditional entertainment-focused models. It's helpful for those involved in children's ministry (or those who know kids) to consider how we disciple our kids. (4 stars)

Motherhood and Mental Health

Motherhood often brings moments of anxiety that we can all relate to. A Mother Held is a compassionate resource that sheds gospel light on our fears. I encourage you to explore it. (5 stars)

Fiction

Set in 1800s America, Counterfeit Love blends mystery, romance, and suspense. A young woman becomes unknowingly entangled in a counterfeit ring, only to have the love of her life return as a secret service agent, risking his cover to save her. Their reunion is fraught with mistrust and old wounds, but through the turmoil, they learn to trust God and each other.

This story offers a captivating mix of faith, love, and resilience, perfect for fans of historical fiction with spiritual depth.(4 stars)

When a woman becomes trapped in her car on a cliff, an off-duty officer stays with her, providing comfort and distraction that lead to unexpected trust and vulnerability. The twist? She turns out to be his brother’s new girlfriend—the same brother who, after a difficult divorce, is finally finding happiness again. Cooper struggles to suppress his growing feelings and avoid her, but fate keeps bringing them together. She, too, feels a connection and shares secrets with Cooper that she hasn’t told his brother.

The tension escalates until everything comes to a head, making for a messy, emotional journey. I loved watching the awkwardness unfold and witnessing the eventual restoration within the family. Riverbend Gap is a heartfelt story filled with complicated relationships and redemption. (5 stars)

I really enjoyed this collection of novellas. It's always fun when a minor character gets featured. Plus each story is connected with the author's series, so you'll get to enjoy seeing the characters and dynamics here again. (5 stars)

Thanks for checking out the list! I hope something caught your eye!
