Missions
I read this in a leadership cohort with our missions organization. It's written to help Christians become better listeners and more global in our mindset. This attitude impacts our churches and our work overseas. A really helpful read. (5 stars)
""The countercultural kingdom of God shapes our character, joins us together with the global church in the Spirit and in mission, and pulls us forward in following Jesus."
Theology
Consider this statement:
There is one true God in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Agree or disagree??
In the state of theology report from 2022, only 54% of evangelical Christians agreed with this statement, describing the essence of God. Check this important read. (5 stars)
Caregiving
Facing death is painful, especially when you're caring for a loved one. Written gently and with vulnerability, the author write about her journey caring for her mom and how the gospel guides and grows us through these difficult times.

Christian Fiction
Guy meets girl. They get off way on the wrong foot, when she gets hired as the manager for their family resort. After spending time together through work and a dose of humble vulnerability, their summer shifts from dread to delight as they fall in love. But this happy ending gets put on hold when she falls from a ladder and loses her memory of the last 4 months and only remembers him as her disgruntled boss.
Obviously he's heartbroken and you really feel for the guy. He keeps hoping she'll get her memories back, but she hopes she never does. This creates a lot of tension to the story which really made it engaging. I also really loved the back and forth of the timeline. The author would interrupt the present day to weave in pieces of how their story unfolded, which was really well done.
You'll find themes of trusting God through heartache, forgiveness, and dreams of success. This is my first read by the author and I'll probably do some more back reading now!
This is an interesting fantasy series based on the idea that darkness gets praise in the world, even when it's evil. In this story a young woman follows in her mother's footsteps to bring light back into their world and those who stand by her side to help. The author just revealed the cover for book 2, and I can't wait! (5 stars)
Years ago, she accidentally left her poem in a tree at the zoo. When she goes to retrieve it, she finds someone not only read it, but wrote her a response. They become penpals of an anonymous sort. Not knowing the friendship that would grow, despite their very public family feud. This was a fun historical read. (5 stars)
Marriage
If you could list right now what you've been taught about sexuality in Christian marriage, what would you write?
Did the reality of normal desire discrepancy come up? That there will be seasons when one spouse will have higher desire than the other and this can be normal?
In some marriages the wife consistently has a higher sex drive than her husband, and it's something we don't talk about a lot, or acknowledge as a possibility. In this book, the author helps wives (and those in ministry) explore the emotions, factors and biblical response in marriages where the husband has a lower sex drive.
This may not be you, but maybe it's someone close to you, it might be the case for those you disciple, so it's a valuable topic for our Christian marriages.
Thanks for visiting! I hope you found something of interest! As always, I'd love to know what's on your shelf! Either respond in the comments or send me a note!
